The perfect video game just hit the shelves if you're a fan of Cars, or any racing games! WB Games, Cars 3: Driven to Win, compliments the newly released movie Cars 3!
This past weekend, a few friends joined us at the local theater to watch Cars 3, then headed to our house to play the game, Cars 3: Driven to Win, sent to us by WB Games. Families also enjoyed Cars themed snacks. I am not usually a video game person; however, I love a good racing game and this game fits our family so well!
Cars 3: Driven to Win has all your favorite characters such as Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Doc Hudson, and Sally. New characters from the movie, Cars 3, such as Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm also joins this world-class competitive racing game. My favorite was Doc - how can you go wrong with experience? My son loves McQueen and several of the other boys chose Storm multiple times. The girls loved the girl power of Cruz Ramirez! (No worries, no movie spoiler alerts).
The game starts with a short story that picks up after the final race in Cars 3 creating an adventure for your family.
The kids loved the graphics and ability to choose different tracks from iconic settings from the film, such as Radiator Springs. There are over 20 unique tracks from across 13 different locations.
Parents and kids liked the six different gaming modes. Stunt Showcase allows you to compete for the highest score depending on your tricks and stunts. Takedown lets players collect and use power-ups to eliminate crash karts to get highest score. Best Lap Challenge is where players attempt to beat their records. Race mode allows players to join other favorite characters for an ultimate challenge. Playground is a place to practice and enjoy challenges at your own pace. My son's personal favorite mode is Battle Race since it lets family and friends to race against each other.
Other features include a Skills-Based Progression that empowers players to practice their driving skills and Pick Up & Play that provides an exhilarating, action-packed experience where training and skill give players an edge in a racing experience that anyone can win. As a parent, I appreciated the appropriate content and fun for all ages.
With the split-screen co-op ability, this game is fun for one, two, three, or four people to race at one time. Families loved to race against each other! There were girls versus boys teams, siblings versus other sibling teams, and more that couldn't get enough of the stunts, best laps, and racing challenges.
As families left the house, kids were asking parents when they could buy the game or come back to play.
Cars 3: Driven to Win has a ESRB RATING of E10+. Most of our friends were ages 7-12 and all enjoyed playing. The controls were easy enough for the couple who has never played a racing game before. Platforms available are PlayStation 4, Xbox ONE, Nintendo Switch PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. MSRP ranges from $49.99 to $59.99.
