WEST MONROE – The City of West Monroe is celebrating National AmeriCorps Week March 10-16, which provides an opportunity for AmeriCorps programs to be spotlighted across the nation. The City of West Monroe has one of the longest-serving teams, celebrating 20 years of service this year.
SEE (Synergy, Education and Environment) West Monroe AmeriCorps is part of a national service organization, the National Corporation for National & Community Service. Member service can take many forms but always focuses on the specific needs in local neighborhoods.
Current members in West Monroe provide afterschool and summer enrichment, helping students reach their full potential. They also provide other services to the community via neighborhood cleanups, disaster-related services, community outreach and much more.
AmeriCorps is about finding a way for every individual to #GetThingsDone through service. Members develop a deeper connection with their community and the families served, all while earning an education award for college. With SEE West Monroe AmeriCorps, members are also eligible to earn a living stipend while they serve.
Those 18 years old and up are encouraged to make a difference in their community. Applications for the summer team are available on the AmeriCorps page on the City of West Monroe website at www.westmonroe.com. For more information, call Denise Calhoun at (318) 396-2600.
