Note From the Publisher-July 23, 2020

By Krystal Farnell- Publisher, Monroe-West Monroe July 23, 2020

Hi friends,

We are starting to hear the terms 'back to school' and 'school supply shopping'! And with that comes a little unrest for some of us. This year will look different and unlike anything we have ever seen. I wanted to write to encourage you as parents and grandparents and let you know we are all on the same team. We can do this together because ALL of this is new to EACH one of us. We are all learning how to do this together. Let's encourage other parents in our circle. Let's encourage our school administration/teachers. We will rise above this, parents!

Some tips for the coming school year:
1. Give grace
2. Don't discuss your concerns, worries, or complaints about this school year in front of your children
3. Talk with your children before school begins about how things will look and help them adjust their expectations
4. Practice wearing masks NOW
5. Encourage lots of handwashing and demonstrate the proper way to wash hands
6. Keep communication open with your children always and check in with them emotionally
7. Give some more grace

This year will be what we make it! Let's do it well!

Talk soon,

Krystal
