Creating a Joyful, Stress-Free Holiday Season

By Krystal Farnell-Publisher, Monroe-West Monroe November 29, 2020

Ready or not, the holiday season is upon us! I have decided that this year I am really going to enjoy a slower pace and make some sweet memories with my children. They are 10, 9, and 4 years old and time is flying. One thing I like to do to make the holidays a little more stress-free is to start shopping early. Here are 5 ways you can enjoy the holidays in 2020 with your little family too.

1. Make a Christmas list for each friend or family member that you are buying for and bring that list with you every day tucked away in your purse or wallet. This way you won’t forget who is getting what and will always be ready if you happen upon the perfect find.

2. Start buying holiday stocking stuffers as soon as you see things your children will like. My children love candy and chewing gum. Target offers a great selection on their candy aisle with items like SOUR PATCH KIDS Soft & Chewy Candy, SWEDISH FISH Soft & Chewy Candy, TRIDENT VIBES Gum, TRIDENT Gum, and TOBLERONE Chocolate Bars. Chew through the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping with TRIDENT Gum. Also choosing candy-like SOUR PATCH KIDS Candy-a chewy candy for adults and children packed with pucker power.

3. Create a budget for each person you have on your list and stick to that amount. Going into debt during the holidays can be very common and not sticking to a budget can really create problems for the new year.

4. When you shop at Target at the beginning of the holiday season for all.the.things, first check the Target Circle app. Every little bit of savings helps especially if you have multiple people you are shopping for. 5. Decide what your plans will be for the celebrations that will take place during the holiday season. We like to sit down as a family and choose what to do early in the season. Doing this helps our schedule not get too overwhelmed and we all enjoy the season a little more.

It's very easy to get caught up in the busyness of the holidays and before we know it, the time has flown. Let's decide that this year will be the year we take those pauses. We get to fill our family calendar celebrations that we really want to be a part of. But we also get to decide on the ones we will skip out on so that we can have time together sitting around the fire at home with our holiday blankets and watching our favorite movies. I hope your family has a memorable holiday season and that you make unforgettable memories!
