With the New Year right around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about your resolutions for the upcoming year. Why not get your kids in on the tradition this year? Setting New Year’s resolutions with your child can be an excellent way to begin instilling the importance of setting goals and sticking to them. For kids, this is an important part of their development and teaches responsibility at an early age. This week, sit down with your child and come up with a few ideas that are both age-appropriate and realistic. Here is a quick list to help your child get started:

This year I really want to:
I really need to:
I want to be better at:
I want to learn how to:

A few other great ideas may be things like:
I will try new foods.
I will get outside and play more.
I will run for Student Council.
I will try out for the baseball team.

New Year’s resolutions can also include savings goals. As the year goes on, their savings grows and you have the perfect opportunity to talk about how they want to use their money! This opens the door for great conversations about giving opportunities, budgeting and so much more. As adults, sometimes we might need help with our financial goals, as well!
