Kid's Safety Class to be held at The Wellness Center

By Krystal Farnell-Publisher, Monroe-West Monroe March 11, 2021

Have you wanted your child to know what to do in dangerous situations? Or maybe how to talk with strangers? What about having situational awareness and knowing more of what is going on around them? We aren't always with our children and giving them the tools to prepare them for those moments could save their life.

On March 20 at 10 am, The Wellness Center will host a community event led by Barry Teague. Barry has a lifetime of Martial Arts and has been a police officer with West Monroe for 29 years. He's also taught a kids program for 14 years on Kid's Awareness/Safety. Barry will teach your child physical drills that would prevent someone evil from grabbing your child. He will teach your child how to communicate with strangers and to keep from being distracted when out about in normal daily activities. He will also cover bullying. Bullying tends to happen the most at school and he will show your child how to verbally disarm the bully before it gets physical or before your child starts having a fear of going to school.

The cost for this Kid's Safety class is $25 and members and non-members of The Wellness Center are welcome. This class is for children 7-12-year-olds only. It will be held on March 20, 2021 from 10 am-12:30 pm. You can reserve your spot at The Wellness Center front desk today! Tell them you heard about this event on Macaroni Kid!
