Ladies' Self Defense Class

Event held at The Wellness Center for the Community

By Krystal Farnell-Publisher, Monroe-West Monroe July 15, 2021

Have you ever wondered what you would do if you found yourself in a dangerous situation? How would you respond? Would you freak out or have to think before you knew exactly what to do?

On August 4 at 5:30 pm, The Wellness Center will host a community event led by Barry Teague. Barry has a lifetime of Martial Arts and has been a police officer with West Monroe for 30 years. He's also taught a kids program for 14 years on Kid's Awareness/Safety. Barry will teach you physical approaches for different situations you may find yourself in like getting out of a chokehold or how to get out from under someone that may force themselves on top of you. Do you know what to do while walking to your car? Barry will show you exactly what to do. There are vulnerable places on an intruder that Barry will share with you so that you can be ready.

This class is perfect for ladies starting college. Perfect also for some Mother/Daughter bonding time learning some important self-defense techniques. Wearing athletic pants is necessary as this is a very hands-on, physical experience.

The cost for this Ladies' Self Defense class is $25 and members and non-members of The Wellness Center are welcome. This class is for ages 13 and up. It will be held on August 4, 2021 from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm! You can reserve your spot at The Wellness Center front desk today! Don't wait as spots tend to fill up fast. As always, please them you heard about this event on Macaroni Kid!
