Spend your Summer with Us at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca

By Carrie Spence, Director of Camp Ch-Yo-Ca May 13, 2021

Every summer hundreds of campers enjoy the great outdoors, make new friends, and grow closer to God at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca. Camp Ch-Yo-Ca is located on 100 acres, deep in the piney woods of Calhoun, La., but minutes away from Monroe, West Monroe and Ruston, making it the perfect place for kids to “get away.”

Besides its amazing location, camp features a large, air-conditioned gymnasium, mess hall, commercial kitchen, craft shed, junior Olympic size swimming pool, baseball field, soccer field, archery range, fishing lake and rustic, but comfortable cabins. One of the goals at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca is for children of all ages to experience the outdoors, soaking up the beauty that only God can create while doing an assortment of activities.

The staff at camp has over sixty years of combined experience putting together a program that challenges, inspires, and motivates campers to be all that God intends for them to be. Directors, bible teachers and qualified staff of over fifty college-aged students are on the grounds every day to ensure the safety of campers, as well as to provide programs, worship, games, and activities to carry out the theme for each summer.

The theme for summer 2021 is “The Party of the Year” focusing on Luke 14:24, “For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate.” Bible lessons, special speakers, worship songs and quiet time will be designed to let campers know God loves them, is always with them, and will never leave them. Each day will be a party as campers celebrate God’s goodness!

Camp features two high school sessions and two middle school sessions. These sessions run concurrent giving campers the opportunity to spend two weeks at camp. For younger campers, completing third through fifth grade, Camp Ch-Yo-Ca offers two overnight camps. For those campers who are not ready for overnight camp, there are eight-day camps available. Day campers need to be between the ages of 5 and 11. Moms and dads can be confident that their day campers are getting plenty of exercise, a well-balanced meal, and a safe environment to spend their summer days.

Hundreds of lives have been changes at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca. Often those who are not“camp people” question how events during a week-long stay at camp can really make a difference, but each year, more and more stories add to the camp collections of lives that have been changed by something experienced at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca.

Camp Ch-Yo-Ca has been a part of the community of Northeast Louisiana for over fifty years. The current executive director is John Luke Robertson, the grandson of the founder, Alton Howard. John Luke brings with him a lifetime of memories while growing up at camp, plus his hours of study in his major of Christian Camping and Outdoor Adventure at Liberty University.

Camp Ch-Yo-Ca is excited to welcome all campers to THE PARTY OF THE YEAR2021! Look on our website www.campchyoca.com for additional information and registration details.
