Your Library Card Does More than Check Out Books!

You don't have to wait for the first report card to get support for your child. By intervening early, you can prevent potential frustration and ensure that your child remains on a positive learning trajectory. Whether it's seeking extra help from teachers, tapping into educational platforms, or enlisting the aid of tutoring programs like Homework Louisiana, addressing concerns at the outset can make a substantial difference. Emphasizing the importance of ongoing learning support and fostering a proactive approach sets the stage for a successful school year and equips your child with the tools they need to thrive academically.

With the start of the school year, accessing homework help has become more convenient than ever. Thanks to the remarkable free program called Homework Louisiana, students have an incredible resource at their fingertips.

Make sure you have an Ouachita Parish Public Library card. Anyone who lives or works in Ouachita Parish may receive a Library card.  Simply bring proof of address and identity (two separate documents) to any of our 10 branches. 

Proof of identity

  • Current driver's license (from any state), 
  • Current state-issued ID (from any state),
  • Current military ID, OR
  • Current passport (from any country)

Proof of address 

  • Current, postmarked piece of mail addressed to yourself, 
  • Printed checkbook with both name and current address,
  • Auto registration with name and current address, 
  • Voter registration with name and current address,
  • Report card with name and current address, OR
  • Current lease agreement

Proof of employment in Ouachita Parish (if you do not live in Ouachita Parish)

  • Recent check stub with your name and company name, OR
  • Photo work ID

You will fill out a simple form and then receive your Library card. Children and teens age 16 and under must have a parent or legal guardian register the card for them. You are responsible for any and all materials checked out on your Library card. If your Library card is lost or stolen, immediately report it to the library.

With your Ouachita Parish Public Library card, you have access to Homework Louisiana, powered by Tutor.com. Homework Louisiana features live, one-on-one tutors in a safe, online environment for more than 60 subjects from kindergarten to college. Plus, Homework Louisiana provides free ACT, ASVAB, AP, and GED prep. You can even submit essays, resumes, and more for grammar and writing feedback. Tutors are available from 2 p.m. - midnight, 7 days per week.
