The City of West Monroe and The Kiroli Foundation are set to host the highly anticipated 2024 Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival (Facebook Link) on Saturday, October 5th, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, at the picturesque Lazarre Park in West Monroe. Overlooking the Ouachita River, the park offers an ideal location with ample space for a day filled with exciting activities for adults and children. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant lineup of live music, thrilling Highland games, live animals, artisan and craft vendors, and a variety of food trucks.
This year's festival offers an impressive roster of musical talent. Headlining the event is AVOCA, an Irish band that infuses traditional Irish music with a unique Louisiana twist. Additionally, multi-instrumentalist and fiddle champion James Linden Hogg has been known to showcase his prowess on the banjo, bagpipes, piano, fife, and pennywhistle. Beth Patterson and other talented musicians and dancers will also grace the stage, ensuring a dynamic musical experience for all attendees.
The festival promises fun for the entire family, with a special emphasis on children's activities this year. A dedicated play area, The Children's Glen, sponsored by Melanie Massey Physical Therapy will feature many activities including a hay fort! You will also find live animals such as Highland Cows, Shetland Shelties Sheep Hearding observation by Theresa Fleming, and the exciting addition of Highland Games for Kids, sponsored by Banner Ford and led by New Iona Presbyterian Church. Pastor Lane Thompson enthusiastically shared the church's commitment to educating the next generation about Celtic traditions, drawing a meaningful connection to the church's name 'Iona', which refers to an island in Scotland's Inner Hebrides.
Did you know this year's festival will also have plushie Highland Cows for purchase that will help support the festival? The keepsake plushie is also given to sponsors of the event, do you want to become a sponsor? Request Sponsorship Information
For adults, the festival includes traditional Highland Games competitions, managed by Backyard Rebellion, where professionals and amateurs are welcome to participate. Flying Heart Brewery will offer a Beer Garden with Celtic food, and various vendors will display traditional Celtic art, jewelry, and more. The Highland Games are proudly sponsored by CenturyNext Bank, promising a day of rich cultural celebration and community spirit.
The cost of the event is $5.00 admission per person and takes place on October 5th, 2024 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
