Pumpkins, hayrides, and… drones? Yep, you read that right! Ouachita 4-H is taking fall fun to a whole new level (literally!) with The Great Pumpkin Drone Mission—and it’s FREE for all Ouachita 4-H members! Not a member? No problem, it's under $10.00 per year to join. If your child attends a school with an Ouachita 4-H Club, they will need to join through their school. However, Ouachita 4-H also has a member-at-large group and Homeschool options. (ONLINE ENROLLMENT)
Forget your average pumpkin patch. This fall festival has a STEM twist that kids are going to flip for!
🍂 Drone Missions Full of Fall Fun
Kids will pilot drones through festive challenges like:
- Bobbing for Apples – no soggy faces here, just steady drone hands!
- Corn Maze – who needs a map when you’ve got an aerial view?
- Hay Ride – except the “hay” is riding in style on your drone.
- Raking Leaves – because fall cleanup is way more fun with flying gadgets.
These missions aren’t just silly fun—they sneak in teamwork, problem-solving, and drone operation skills while kids laugh and cheer each other on.
🎓 First Stop: TRUST Certificate
Before the drones lift off, kids will need to earn their TRUST Certificate (that’s short for The Recreational UAS Safety Test). Don’t let the name scare you—it’s super easy! You will need to go through TRUST training before attending the October 13th event. Head to our Events Calendar for all the details.
Think of it as a “drone learner’s permit.” It covers:
- How to fly safely (without buzzing your neighbor’s cat 🐱✈️)
- Rules for responsible recreational flying
- Confidence to handle their drone like a pro
By the end, your kiddo won’t just be having fun—they’ll officially be a certified recreational drone pilot!
