The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana (CCNELA), in partnership with the Louisiana Center for Afterschool Learning (LACAL) and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), is gearing up for a brilliant celebration — and you’re invited to be part of the glow!
This multi-day celebration leads up to the national Lights On Afterschool Day, a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the critical importance of quality afterschool programs. These programs don’t just keep kids busy — they change lives. They provide safe, enriching environments where children can learn, grow, and discover new interests long after the school bell rings.
💡 Kickoff Event: Super Saturday
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 18, because the celebration kicks off with Super Saturday in the beautiful Family Garden at the Children’s Coalition from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Families can look forward to:
🌱 Educational hands-on activities
💙 Learning about local resources and programs
💡 A FREE blue light bulb to take home and “shine” on October 23 in support of afterschool programs across Northeast Louisiana
And here’s the best part — Super Saturday is completely FREE for children and families to attend!
Of course, Macaroni KID Monroe–West Monroe will be there, ready to say hello, share smiles, and join in on the fun. (We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeve — you’ll just have to see for yourself!)
So grab your crew, pack your curiosity, and come celebrate the incredible work happening in our community for children and families. Together, let’s keep those “Lights On” for afterschool!
✨ Because when we shine a light on opportunity, our kids shine even brighter. ✨
