If you’re on the hunt for a Christmas-tree outing that’s more than “grab and go,” here are three local farms offering full holiday vibes — and yes, they’ll even be open on Thanksgiving Day to kick off the season. πβ¨
π Where to Find a Tree — and a Holiday Experience
Curry Farms, Inc.
548 Robinson Dr., Rayville, Louisiana
Curry Farms isn’t just about trees — it’s a full family-friendly adventure. They grow Virginia pine, Leyland cypress, Carolina Sapphires, and even premium Fraser firs. In addition to a great tree selection, the farm offers a giant swing, a roller slide, tractor-tire swings, pedal carts, a corn maze, hay-stack slides, duck races, and even goat feeding — basically a mini amusement farm for the kiddos.
- Thanksgiving hours: They’ll open at 1:00 PM on Thanksgiving Day, making it a perfect start for a festive family outing.
- Regular hours: After Thanksgiving, they’re open Mon–Sat 10–5, Sun afternoons; ideal for a relaxed weekend visit.
- $15.00 per person admission is FREE with tree purchase.
Indian Village Harvest Farm
1976 Guyton Swamp Rd., Calhoun, Louisiana
This place is about as festive as a Christmas tree farm gets — fresh Fraser firs flown in from North Carolina, a barnyard vibe, and a nostalgic small-town charm. On opening day (that’s Thanksgiving Day at 2:00 PM this season), they’ll have trees with that gorgeous forest scent plus Louisiana Satsumas π and apples π from local orchards. Rumor has it there will also be homemade candy-cane (peppermint) ice cream and other goodies — plus a playground and petting zoo to delight the little ones. Perfect treat for families. (Note: I didn’t find a stable public website for them — might be worth calling or checking their social page before heading out.)
- Santa on Saturdays and Sundays
- No Admission Fee
- Lots of treats and homemade goodies.
- Bring your Santa Letters to send to the North Pole.
Precious Memories Christmas Tree Farm
455 Glen Acres Rd., Calhoun, Louisiana
A holiday classic since 1986 — this farm is built for memory-making: vintage tractor-pulled sleigh rides, a cozy gift shop with handmade local goods, and lots of photo-op potential for family Christmas cards. They make everything easy: you pick your tree, and they’ll cut it, net it, and tie it to your vehicle.
- Thanksgiving hours: They’ll be open 12:00–5:00 PM on Thanksgiving Day.
- Black Friday: They’ll swing open early at 8:00 AM — great for early-birds or tradition-keepers.
