Families with young children are invited to celebrate the Kickoff Celebration of the Week of the Young Child, hosted by the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana. This exciting community event is designed especially for families with children ages 0–8 and will feature a morning full of hands-on learning, creativity, and fun.
The celebration will take place on Friday from 10:00 – 12:00 PM, bringing together community partners who will host interactive activity stations for children and their families. Kids will travel from table to table, enjoying engaging experiences like music, tasty gardening activities, collaborative games, art projects, and Family Friday fun. Each station encourages children to learn through play while building creativity, teamwork, and curiosity.
One of the highlights of the event is Family Friday, where every child will receive a special goodie bag filled with fun surprises, including a book, crayons, bubbles, chalk, a Discover Monroe-West Monroe coloring book, and more. These take-home items encourage families to keep the learning and creativity going long after the event ends. (While supplies last).
And there’s even more excitement in store for early arrivals! The first 15 eligible families will receive a Family 4-Pack of tickets to the Monroe Moccasins hockey game on April 4, 2026. This special Kids’ Night game will feature the Children’s Coalition, along with fun activities during the game and a chance for kids to participate in the crowd-favorite Chuck-A-Puck Pick-Up. To be eligible, families must be able to attend the hockey event, have a child aged 0–5, and sign a waiver.
The Week of the Young Child is a national celebration that highlights the importance of early learning and recognizes the teachers, families, and community partners who help young children grow and thrive. Events like this kickoff celebration give families a chance to connect with local resources while children learn through hands-on play.
Parents are encouraged to bring their little ones, explore the activity stations, and celebrate the joy of early childhood learning together. It’s a wonderful way to start the Week of the Young Child—full of laughter, discovery, and community connection.
